Laurie Keefer, PhD, is a GI Health Psychologist and Professor of Medicine and Psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. Her current research focuses on implementation of positive psychology principles into routine IBD care, with a particular emphasis on resilience and hope. She has more than 100 peer-reviewed publications focused on psychogastroenterology, and has sustained NIH funding since 2008 in the same area. She previously co-directed a training grant in GI Physiology and Psychology and is a sought after speaker and mentor. She is the Director of one of the few IBD subspecialty medical homes in the country, and is known internationally for her work in GIPsych as part of the Rome Foundation Board of Directors and Co-Chair of the Rome GastroPsych Group.
